Why it's required

Sunlight compliance isn't optional.

In NSW, the Housing SEPP and Apartment Design Guide require at least 70% of apartments to receive two hours of direct sunlight between 9am and 3pm on 21 June. In WA, the R-Codes require developments to demonstrate solar access to living areas and open space without unreasonably overshadowing neighbouring properties.

Ark runs the solar access compliance analysis using the ArkiLume toolkit, so your sunlight analysis report is accurate, defensible, and ready for submission with your planning application.

Overview

Introduction to ArkiLume

In practice

What early clients are seeing

"The speed and accuracy of ArkiLume have transformed the way we incorporate solar access analysis into our design process. By enabling informed decision-making earlier in the project lifecycle, it has improved productivity, streamlined workflows, and given our teams greater confidence in their design outcomes."

"The ability to upload an IFC model and quickly receive a comprehensive solar access report, detailed enough to support planning compliance submissions, has been a key factor in our successful adoption of ArkiLume."
